Next up in a new series of DUST deliverables, is Deliverable 2.4 (D2.4)!
The DUST project rethinks sustainability transitions in European regions by fostering proactive citizen engagement, especially in areas moving away from energy-intensive industries. DUST aims to amplify voices often excluded from policy shaping by using innovative tools and digital platforms.
Within this framework, D2.4 dives deep into measuring participation in transition policies and uncovering trends to implement active subsidiarity principles. These principles refer to decisions made alongside citizens with support from higher levels of governance, ensuring robust and empowering participation at lower levels. D2.4 research focuses on developing tools to assess stakeholder engagement, highlighting barriers to participation for marginalised groups, and visualising participation networks across multi-level policies.
Wondering about what opportunities exist for active subsidiarity within policy-making processes through participatory methods? Or interested in how regions can overcome barriers such as sidelining vulnerable groups and unequal decision-making power?
